Because publishers need to know as much as possible about the data they are publishing, the Pathways
Database Publisher includes several groups of reports to help publishers analyze their data. Reports
in the Pathways Database Publisher are of three basic types:

Company Response Report: This report lists each company in the database. Each listing includes
the company name & addressing information along with the date of the last response from the company.
It also includes totals for the number of branches or subsidiaries, executives, products, advertisements
or editorial enhancements associated with the company. The report can be run for all companies within
the publication, or for a range of response dates. A summary is also included showing the largest number
of related records in each of the categories listed above, as well as the average number in each category.

Company Statistics Report: This report gives publishers a statistical analysis of a publications
data. Depending upon the types of data being maintained for a publication, the following totals will
be displayed on the report:

A count of companies within each Section of the publication.
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
|
A count of Domestic versus International companies.
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
|
For domestic companies, counts for each State.
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
|
For international companies, counts for each Country.
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
If the publication is using regional assignments, a count of companies assigned to each
Region.
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
If the publication is using Business Industry or SIC categories, a count of companies
in each category.
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
If the publication is using Executive Title coding, a count of executives for each title
group.
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
If the publication is using Executive Area of Responsibility coding, a count of executives
for each area of responsibility.
|
|
|

|
 |
If the publication has advertising, counts for each Type of Ad, each Size of Ad,
and each Color of Ad.
|

 |
If the publication contains company to company relationships, a count showing the number
of companies involved for each Type of Relationship.

If the publication contains product information for companies, the number of companies associated
with each Product or Service Type.

In addition to reporting the total companies for each of the classifications listed above,
the report also shows a breakdown of each total by Main Company location versus Branch
or Subsidiary locations.

Duplicate Companies: This report is used to determine if duplicate companies have inadvertently
been entered into the system. The report can be run as a full alphabetical listing of all companies
on file, or it can be run with various options that allow the publisher to define criteria that is to
be used for determining and reporting duplicates. If the later option is used, only those companies
that meet the defined duplicate criteria will be listed on the report.

Advertising Report: The advertising report shows information about each advertisement that has
been entered into the system. The report includes the name of the company running the advertisement,
the type of advertisement, size, color, requested position, and headline. Additionally, if the advertisement
is to have reader service numbers assigned, the report will show how many numbers are to be assigned.
If Reader Service Numbers have already been assigned, they will also be reported.
If advertisements
were entered and defined as being associated with a particular product or company listing, information
will also be reported detailing to which listing the advertisement pertains.

Custom Reports: The Pathways Database Publisher does not require publishers to purchase Microsoft's
FoxPro for Windows. However, if publishers choose to create their own custom reports, they may do
so by purchasing FoxPro and using the report writer that is included with the software. Once written,
these custom reports can be added to the Pathways system, allowing publishers to run them directly from
the data maintenance system.

Template Statistics of Input Files: These reports are created each time a DTP, Questionnaire, or
HTML template is run. The reports are divided into two categories: Input File Statistics
DTP Tag Analysis
The Input File Statistics Report is compiled for each output file that
is created by the template as well as for the total combined output. This report lists information about
the data that was filtered through the template, including parameters that were used to qualify which
records were processed by the template.
The DTP Tag Analysis Report is likewise compiled for
each output file created by the template as well as for the total combined output. This report lists
information about the DTP Style Tags, the types of Index Entries, and the types of Frames that are contained
in the output file.

Export Job Report: This report is printed after an export job is run. The export job report lists
output statistics, including the name of the file(s) that was created, the type of file that was created,
the number of records within each file, and any special instructions that were entered into the export
job.

Batch Edit Report: This report is generated when the Batch Edit Utility is run. The batch edit
utility processes data with the same set of editing routines as the online maintenance system. The Batch
Edit Report contains a list of any errors that were encountered when the utility was run. These errors
point publishers to the specific records containing errors and gives them suggestions for correcting
those errors.

Area Code Change Utility/Report: This report is generated when the Area Code Change Utility is
run. This utility evaluates domestic phone numbers within the data and changes any area codes that have
been changed. If the "Trial Run" option is selected when this utility is run, this report will be generated
and it will list the phone numbers that would be changed if the utility were run with the "Final Run"
option.

Database Documentation: The Pathways Database Publisher comes with full documentation for
each database used by the system. This documentation may be printed at any time by simply running the
Database Documentation report. This report can also be printed for any of the custom databases defined
by the publisher.
