Because publishers use information from directories and buyers guides for purposes other than producing printed products, Pathways provides add-on modules that can be used for Database Marketing.  Using a series of screens, publishers can easily define selection criteria for information that is to be exported from the Pathways database.  These comprehensive modules allow publishers to select from a number of output options including various mailing label formats as well as a variety of electronic file formats.

If publishers choose, they may use the export modules to produce information in electronic formats such as comma delimited files, Spreadsheet files, SDF fixed format files, XBase, and several other common formats.  Once publishers have determined the format of the file to be exported, they may also select from a number of standard file layouts provided with the system.  If none of the standard layouts meet the publisher’s need, templates can be developed to allow information exportation in custom formats as defined by the publisher or the publisher’s final customer.

Publishers can tell the software which data records they want to export by defining a set of selection criteria.  An easy to use interface is available to help with the definition process. Using point and click processing, the publisher tells the software which databases are to be examined, which data fields within the database are to be examined, and what values are to be used for either inclusion or exclusion for the export processing.
